I Decided to Make a Change

”Open Door Outreach means so much to me.  I have been in and out of jail for the past nine years and on a path going nowhere.  My life was out of control, filled with bad relationships and addiction.  During my other stays in jail I didn’t wanted to change and I didn’t ask for help.  This time when I received a 10 month sentence I finally got it; that I was in trouble.  So I decided to make a change.  I started taking Open Door programs and by doing these programs my eyes were opened to the real me.  I have come to realize that my life is important, my family is important and I am worth the work it takes to change.

I decided the best thing for me was to meet one to one with a mentor and that is when Cheryl became my biggest support.  I have come such a long way since I came in here.  I got my GED, completed every group I have been offered and most important of all, I have turned my life over to God.  I always knew I was missing something in my life but never would have known it was right in front of me my whole life.  So for this I am so thankful to Cheryl and the staff of Open Door Outreach for everything they have done for me and the rest of the women they have helped and continue to help every day.  You guys are so amazing and I am truly blessed to have you in my life.”                          Anonymous
